Cavalleria Rusticana, Monte-Carlo, February 2024
"María José Siri is an impressive Santuzza; in fact, she does possess a dense and full soprano voice with soaring high notes ...a stage performance which, thanks to her good temperament, supports the visceral outline of the character's internal torment."

"The level of the cast of Cavalleria Rusticana is excellent. Maria José Siri gives Santuzza a large and well-projected voice. Her instrument, ductile and mellow, shines in a full-bodied central register: it easily expands into the high register, where it is full and vibrant. The precise singing line is crafted with the right composure: so that the intimate yearning that tears apart the soul of the character is even more emphasised. ... An enormous success with peaks of great enthusiasm for Siri, Eyvazov, Alaimo, Zilio and Scappucci."

"By listening to Santuzza's speech to Mamma Lucia: “Dite, Mamma Lucia...”, the absolute necessity of having a great mezzo or a dramatic soprano, in order to succeed in Cavalleria Rusticana, becomes clear. Undoubtedly, María José Siri, does possess an extraordinarily sumptuous and extended vocal range, never pushed to the limit. She gave us a great “Voi lo sapete, o mamma” and a final high note which was not snatched, as it often happens, but it was sung and held. Likewise, in the duet with Turiddu, the character’s pain is not delivered through uncontrolled veristic outbursts, but with a care for nuances and a “bel canto” singing."
Première Loge
"...Maria José Siri fulfils all the requirements to be an excellent Santuzza, a role that she has performed on numerous occasions."
